Explanations of Services

Code one page:

This would be literally what is says: a one page website (ie. no menus) where are the updates are appended to this page. This would of course be designed as per your request

Additional pages:

If you wish to have more pages eg. perhaps a contact page, or a page for each month of your trip etc

Word Document Blog Page:

This is a web page where all the updates you make can be made on just a word document. This is by far the easiest option if you are not planning to opt for the 'Monthly Support Package 1' and do not know html. It will require you logging into a third party website to upload your documents, but all this if fairly simple and will be explained to you. As part of the initial page setup, an account will be created for you with the third party website, this setup is obviously not required for subsequent pages hence the cost reduction.

Google Map Page:

This is a web page which has a map of your progress/planned journey/taken journey. Please note that the updates of these pages are not covered under either support plan - this is something you must do yourself. It would be more laborious for you to tell us what to update that it would be for you to do it. The data you enter onto this map will also not be backed up as it comes under google's control not ours. It will require you logging into 'Google Maps' to update your route, but all this if fairly simple and will be explained to you (help is also given in the Client Area). We will also set up any new accounts required for you as part of the cost of the page.

Contact Us Form Page:

This is a page with a form like our Contact Us Page. If you just wish to have a link on your pages which people can click on to email you, that would be covered in the price of the page. However the benefits of a 'Contact Us Form' over a link to your email are that 'spam robots' used to find email addresses will not find it as easily, drastically reducing your chances of spam emails.

Please note this option is only available if we are hosting your site

Password Protect your site(or areas of it):

If you do not wish for the general public (or search engines eg. google) to be able to access your website then we can password protect it for you. You can then choose a username and password to pass onto those you wish to follow your travel blog in order for them to access it.

Set up your url (the address of your website):

This is the address of your website. Each website needs to have unique URL (Uniform Resource Locator) eg. for our site this is www.timetogoonline.co.uk. To set up any website you would need to choose a url, check that it is available, and purchase it.

When setting up a website the url and hosting are both mandatory so if you do not wish for us to do this, then you must organise it yourself.

The hosting of your website:

When you have written (or have written for you) a website, the files involved need to be placed on a server so that the internet can see them at all times. Hosting is only available from the hosting companies in yearly blocks, so if your trip is for just 6mths, there would be no reduction in this cost.

When setting up a website the url and hosting are both mandatory, so if you do not wish for us to do this, then you must organise it yourself.

FTP

FTP: File Transfer Protocol is the method by which all updated files (and the site initially) are put onto the 'internet'. The files are taken from our/your hard drive and placed onto a file system with your Hosting provider. If you do not choose 'Monthly Support Package 1' it is expected that you are able to, and will perform this action yourself (the Client Area has help on this).

Backups

It is safe practise to back up your website regularly so that if something goes wrong you have an up to date copy to go back to. As part of the 'Monthly Support Package 1' this is done every time an update is released. With 'Monthly Support Package 2' it is done every two weeks. If you opt for neither of these options please be aware that you will have to do this yourself: we will not have an up to date copy should your site have problems.

html

This is the code used for writing web pages. If you do not choose the 'Monthly Support Package 1' and have not opted for the 'Word Doc Blog' then it is expected that you are able to update html whenever you wish to update your blog.
